Music has been part of my life since I was a young child, and some of my fondest memories are those of learning and performing. These memories—and my relationships with my teachers—drew me to teaching. What I enjoy most about teaching is building relationships with the students and parents, and instilling in my students a deep, lifelong love of music. I have taught violin for about 20 years, and what drew me to the Let’s Play Music and Sound Beginnings programs was how students were learning to enjoy hearing, reading, playing, and performing music through play and discovery. Because these programs are so active and engaging, students build a strong music foundation and have a ton of fun doing it.
